FAQs

FAQs

1. How do we pay for the sessions?
You will be invoiced at the end of the month or term for payment within 7 days. We are able to accept cheques or bank transfers depending on what works for you. KIA have the facility to accept childcare vouchers too. This is a scheme where employers are able to make the first £50 a week, supplied through childcare vouchers, exempt from tax and national insurance. Please ask the manager for the relevant code for your companies scheme.  We can also help you with any forms for working tax credits.

2. Do I have to pay if my child is sick or on a trip?
No, we do not charge in these circumstances.

3. How do I book a place for my child with KIA?
Please contact the KIA club manager, numbers are listed under contacts on this website,  at your school to confirm availability and they will be able to advise you about their booking system.

4. Can I book ad hoc sessions or do I have to commit to full terms?
When spaces are available we can offer ad hoc sessions. However, we also offer reserved spaces for children who attend on a regular basis. Please speak to your KIA manager.

5. Do all year groups play together at the club?
Yes. We actively encourage a family environment where older children sit by younger children at snack time to help them prepare their snack. This ethos follows on when the children then go out to play as the younger children feel more confident to join in with the older ones.

6. Who will be looking after my child?
All our staff have childcare qualifications, previous experience in working with children and DBS checks. There will be trained first aiders present for every session and staff with up to date safeguarding training. EYFS children will also have a key worker who will liaise with parents and school about the child’s achievements at club.

7. What snacks do you offer?
We provide a light snack which is usually a bread product with different spreads. There is fresh fruit and vegetables offered daily. Also water or juice. Children are then offered a small plain biscuit at Biscuit O’clock which is later in the session. Staff are aware of good practise for healthy eating and follow KIA recommended guidelines.

8. If my child is attending a different after school club can they also attend KIA when it has finished?
Yes. We welcome children from the other clubs. They can have a later snack and then join the others. We do ask that the space is paid for including the time the child spent attending the other club.

9. Can I see your policies?
Yes. Once your child has enrolled with KIA the manager can show you our policies or you can access them through this website.

10. What if I am not happy about something?
You can speak to your KIA manager or contact Kevin Osborne. Your concern will be dealt with confidentially and we will advise you of any further action we taketo remedy the situation. All concerns will be treated seriously and dealt with professionally.

11. What happens if I pick up later than the closure time?
If you can we would appreciate a phone call or text so we can let your child know. We then charge £5 for every 10 minutes to cover staffing.

12. What times is KIA available?
We are open term time with some clubs offering holiday clubs. Where there is a breakfast club, it opens at 7.45am. After School clubs operate from the end of the school day usually to 6pm but please check with your particular KIA club for their specific finish time.

13. What activities are available?
Each club has different activities but arts and crafts, construction and deconstruction, den building, dressing up and role play, ball games and cookery to name but a few! The important thing is that it is the children's choice, it is their club and they choose what they want to do.

14. Is there a cancellation fee?
Unless your child is absent from school due to illness or on a school trip any booked place must be paid for in full.  We do appreciate a message if this happens, as we need to know for safeguarding reasons where the child is.
